The Land of Promise multi-media teaching and learning resource has been developed by the Ulster-Scots Agency and tells the story of the McFadden family from County Londonderry who were part of the first organised migration from Ireland to escape persecution and build their new lives in America.

The website tells the story and has downloadable resources for teachers. It is supported by more than 20 interactive curriculum based activities hosted on the Ulster-Scots Agency’s Learning Platform and builds into a scheme of work.

The interactive learning activities can be found by clicking the picture below

In addition, a script and original music has been commissioned for a drama production about the story to be staged by schools.

This was a terrific opportunity for the children to experience Living History and they were able to experience it as part of their home learning experience during lockdown.
