Small Events Programme.

The Ulster-Scots Agency has opened a Small Events Grants programme which aims to support the delivery of small community events in Ulster-Scots communities including Ulster-Scots events which mark the centenary of Northern Ireland from the 1st August to the 31st December 2021.

These events are aimed to help to revitalise communities as they come out of Covid-19 restrictions and begin the process of normalisation.  The events can cover a range of Ulster-Scots themes and will also provide an opportunity for Ulster-Scots groups wishing to celebrate the Centenary of Northern Ireland.  The events will provide an opportunity for the Ulster-Scots Agency to work with groups to raise awareness of Ulster-Scots language, heritage and culture; and increase the amount of Ulster-Scots activity being delivered in communities across Ulster.

The maximum grant available is £1,000 and minimum of £500 which can be used to fund one or two events. Groups will be required to provide match funding of at least 10%. The Agency has developed a set of guidelines which include a list of eligible costs.

The funding will be awarded on a first come first served basis until the fund is fully allocated. Groups are requested to submit an application form at least one month before the event via an online portal  HERE. Groups interested in applying should register via the Ulster-Scots Agency website and they will receive an application form and guidelines. Applicants are advised to read the guidelines especially the eligible costs section before submitting an application.

Ulster-Scots Music Tuition Grants 2021

The Ulster-Scots Agency has today opened the Music tuition grants for tuition projects commencing from the 1st September and ending by the 30th April 2022. The funding is at a rate of 75% of eligible costs which provides financial support to voluntary groups including bands to deliver a 20 week tuition programme and will support tutor costs and venue hire.

Applications close at 5pm on the 26th July and must be submitted using the online application process. The link to start the process begins with the Registratioprocess which can be found  HERE.

Groups interested in applying should register through the link above and they will be emailed an application form, supporting documents to complete and a copy of the guidelines.

To support groups and bands complete the application process, the Ulster-Scots Community Network has created a YouTube video which will be available via social media.

The last fifteen months have been difficult and challenging time for bands and voluntary groups, we hope the music tuition programme will offer the opportunity to develop musical skills and attract new participants into the Ulster-Scots cultural tradition.

The Musical tuition programme has over the years encouraged the development of a lot of young musicians and we hope that groups and bands will avail of this opportunity to develop the Ulster-Scots musical tradition and seek to rebuild after the Covid pandemic.
