The Ulster-Scots/Scots-Irish, Ireland and North...

18 November 2010, 10:00, Boston College-Ireland, 42 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2

Runs to 18 November 2010

Each year Boston College-Ireland welcomes a Visiting Professor in Irish Studies, and one of the activities they undertake is a day symposium to allow discussion of a topic that interests them.

This year's Visiting Professor, Mary Burke, from the University of Connecticut, has chosen the theme of the Ulster-Scots and the place of that identity within historical and contemporary terms. The invited speakers will tackle a range of themes including religion, litertaure, politics, and emigration.

Each speaker will talk for 30 minutes, and each session to be followed by questions. The day will end with a roundtable discussion of the issues that have emerged from the day, and areas of future discussion.
