Did you know...

...an Ulster History Circle Blue Plaque can be found at the birthplace of Lord Kelvin in College Square, Belfast?

Born in Belfast, Lord Kelvin was an Ulster-Scot, mathematician, mathematical physicist, and engineer.  

Among his achievements, he is known for determining the correct value of absolute zero - the existence of a coldest possible temperature - as approximately -273.15 degrees Celsius or -459.67 degrees Farenheit.  Absolute temperatures are stated in units of Kelvin in his honour. 

The Institute of Physics also unveiled a plaque in his honour at the University of Glasgow on 11 January 1999.
