An all-day workshop and learning session with Stuart A. Paterson focused on writing through the medium of Scots/Ulster-Scots. Come along and take part in what will be an informative and useful writing session as Stuart talks about his work, provides hints and tips as well as working with you to improve your poetry and prose and help you to explore the joy that your language should bring you. As Stuart says "Poetry, to me, should be accessible without being dumbed down, relevant without having to be jokey, for people and not AT people. Scots very much involves the poetry & music of people & place." Stuart is a native Scots speaker & writer brought up in Ayrshire & now living in Galloway. Former BBC Scotland Poet in Residence & an award-winning poet, performer & tutor, Stuart is the author of several collections in Scots & English & his poems have been widely published & filmed worldwide. The year 2020 sees the publication of two new collections of his poetry in Scots, for adults & children. He’s absolutely delighted to be visiting Northern Ireland in November to carry out readings & workshops as part of the Ulster Scots Language Week. Come along to hear, celebrate & express yourself in our fantastic shared language in what promises to be an exciting & lively series of events. The gangin fuit aye gets an whit’s fur ye’ll no go by ye! This event is made possible with support from Ulster-Scots Agency and Arts Council of Northern Ireland
