Second Edition of Ulster-Scots Agency Magazine...

08 December 2009

The Agency has published its second edition of 'Oot an Aboot'. It is hoped that the second edition of the magazine will prove to be even more successful than the first, which as before has a very strong community feel with the majority of articles being written by members of the Ulster-Scots community.

The magazine features a range of community run initiatives held during 2009 funded by the Agency including Ulster-Scots summer schools in East Donegal, Kilcooley and at the Eddie Irvine Centre; Ulster-Scots musical tuition at Cullycapple Primary School and Rathfriland High School and festivals including the East Belfast Titanic Festival, Banbridge Orange Fest 2009 and Coleraine Twelfth Festival.

The magazine also features articles on a selection of the Agency initiatives developed in 2009, including the hugely successful Dan Gordon drama project; ‘The Boat Factory’.  Other areas of interest include language, history and traditional Ulster-Scots recipes.

Across the Province and border counties members of community and voluntary groups work tirelessly to promote Ulster-Scots within the community - ‘Oot an Aboot’ is a celebration of their ongoing commitment.  The Agency acknowledges without the support of the community, it would not be possible to keep our cultural Ulster-Scots traditions alive.

The second edition of ‘Oot an Aboot’ was officially launched by the Agency on Friday 4th December as Ulster rugby played Glasgow Warriors at Ravenhill.
