An Ulster-Scots Welcome for Ulster v Glasgow

27 November 2009

On Friday 4th December, spectators at the Ulster v Glasgow Warriors match at Ravenhill will receive a warm Ulster-Scots welcome.

With both teams sitting currently at 19 points in the Magners League, this is an important match for the Ulster team.

As the festive season is approaching, the first 3,000 spectators to enter the rugby grounds will receive a FREE Santa hat courtesy of the Ulster-Scots Agency.

To add to the atmosphere for this important Ulster v Glasgow match, Ulster-Scots entertainment will be provided in the Members' Bar by ‘Crooked Jack’ and in the beer tent by ‘Stonewall’.

This event will mark the official launch of publication of the second edition the Ulster-Scots Agency’s magazine ‘Oot An Aboot’.  Complimentary copies of the magazine will be handed out to spectators as they leave the grounds following the match.

Michael McCullough, Director of Corporate Services said “The Ulster-Scots Agency would like to thank Ulster Rugby for the opportunity to once again showcase Ulster-Scots at Ravenhill.  We hope everyone enjoys the entertainment and the match.  Despite the fact that a large percentage of our forefathers came from Scotland, many during the Plantation of Ulster 400 years ago, all our support will be firmly behind the Ulster team”.

Simon Wallace Commercial Manager of Ulster Rugby commented “I am delighted to welcome the Ulster-Scots Agency back to Ravenhill again for our vital clash with Glasgow on Friday 4th of December.  I am sure that our Ulster supporters will enjoy the festive cheer that the Agency are kindly providing on the night with Santa hats and live music whilst also looking forward to picking up the latest copy of ‘Oot An Aboot’. Let's hope for a successful night for Ulster on the pitch and hope all supporters in the ground have a night to remember”.
