Donaghadee Ulster Scots Festival

Donaghadee celebrate the town’s strong Ulster-Scots heritage with an extensive programme of themed entertainment.

The programme includes the re-enactment of Montgomery’s arrival at Donaghadee Harbour, historical displays, live music and dance performances, Ulster-Scots culinary fayre, craft demonstrations & children’s activities.

Arms through the Ages, showcasing weapons from the 1600s

Craft demonstrations: Harvest knots, rag-rug spinning, quilting, felt, embroidery and willow work

A Forenoon Aroon the Ards Coach Tour 1pm

This Ulster-Scots tour of ‘the Ards’ traces the history of the 1606 Hamilton/Montgomery settlement.

Tour departs from Ards Visitor Information Centre, Newtownards, BT23 4AD

Tickets: £18/£16/£9 (includes afternoon tea)

 

Dander around the Dee 3pm – 4.30pm

Step back through the ages with local historian Harry Allen as he leads you around the history-rich town of Donaghadee.

Discover the stories behind the buildings and hear how Hugh Montgomery and his followers arrived at the harbour in 1606 to help shape present day Donaghadee.
