The Kennedy K McArthur Festival of Sports and Ulster-Scots will take place on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July 2013 in the village of Dervock.
The festival highlights Kennedy K McArthur’s achievements in the Olympics’ of 1912 with a half marathon taking place around his hometown.
Ulster-Scots Language, Heritage and Culture will feature strongly in the festival programme with a wealth of activities taking place helping to showcase musical talent within the Ulster-Scots community during the sporting challenges.
Marching band showcasing will be Vow Accordion, Dervock Flute, Articlave Flute, while Cookery demonstration, Scottish Country Dancing and a living history demonstration from Border Reivers group will entertain the crowds.
Ulster-Scots folk music will be covered by Kast and Risin’ Stour playing during the festival, while storytelling, language lectures and a look at Kennedy Kane McArthur will help to augment the Ulster-Scots heritage within the festival.
