Meet Tha Queen O’Wunter as she casts her dark spell across the year and draws the harsh beauty of winter down across the land.
In this introduction to her poetic reimagining of the Cailleach – ‘The Veiled One’ – poet and playwright Anne McMaster discusses how she created a powerful soundscape melding Celtic mythology and richly expressive Ulster-Scots in this innovative digital film.
She’ll guide you through the musical score specially written and performed by composer Matthew McCracken and give a detailed explanation of key passages within the film – moments which connect language, music and mythology.
This event is part of Ards & North Down Borough Council's Leid and Lairn Festival, celebrating Ulster-Scots language and heritage.
