Duncairn Ulster Scots Society will be hosting their Loughshore Ulster Scots festival from 9th September to the 30th September.
This year’s festival will see a wide range of events taking place including music from the Thompson Brothers and the Nutty Pine String Band.
Poetry workshops by Anne Morrison Smyth will be held in local primary schools such as Carr Glen Primary School, Wheafield, Seaview and Glenwood to encourage children to participate in Ulster Scots activities, whilst Nelson McCausland will be hosting a tour of Clifton Street Graveyard and a talk on his recent publication ‘Scotch Town’.
Local historian David Hume will be providing a series of talks which include Exploring Ulster Scots Heritage in Ballycarry and Carrickfergus with on-site visits and the regular ‘Tartan Tea Dance’ will also be continued this year.
