Ploughboy of the Western World is a play based on the life and work of Robert Burns. It was written by the Scottish writer and journalist Tom Sweeny and originally performed as part of the Burns Festival in Ayr under the direction of Paddy Scully of the Belfast Theatre Company. This black comedy takes an irreverent look at the bard’s musings, the inspiration he found in his long suffering wife and explores the highs and lows of one of Scotland's best loved poets. The narrator guides you through this wry look at Burn's life including Rabbie’s sad demise leaving behind his works of poetry and many a bairn. The staged reading is Directed by Dan Leith and performed by actors Mark Claney, Debbie Mccormack and Victoria Gleason.
