'Gig'n The Bann' festival launch

The Co Antrim village of Portglenone will host the fifth 'Gig'n The Bann' Cross Community Music and Dance Festival on  September 1 - 4.

The Festival is quickly becoming one of the major events on the summer festival calendar, having built up a reputation for offering a most impressive line-up of top performers spanning traditional, Scottish and folk music circles.
Festival organisers and members of Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band launch the fifth 'Gig'n The Bann' Festival.

The festival ethos is to bring together musical traditions from across all cultural divides and the direction pursued in recent years has been to incorporate the Ulster-Scots tradition alongside traditional Irish music.

The festival programme includes the usual exciting mix of concerts, music sessions in local bars and workshops. There will also be  pipe band performances at the 'Pipe'n The Bann' event.

Sponsorship has been secured from some major companies and government agencies, including the Ulster-Scots Agency, ensuring the continued development of the festival.

Plans are well underway to ensure that the 2005 'Gig'n the Bann' festival programme will be even more entertaining than previous years. If you feel you would like to experience the unique welcome afforded to all visitors who spend the weekend in the village check the festival website www.gignthebann.com for events listings and updates or telephone 028 2582 0150.
