The Board is responsible for ensuring that its functions as specified in the implementation Bodies Agreement made between the British and Irish Governments on 8th March 1999 and the strategic plans of the Ulster-Scots Agency are implemented in an effective and efficient manner.
Accordingly, the Board:
· provides advice to Ministers and the North/South Ministerial Council on major issues of policy and strategy;
· acts as a channel of communication with the Ulster-Scots Agency’s social partners, to ensure the continued relevance of its strategies and policies;
· considers and endorses the Ulster-Scots Agency’s Corporate Plan and the Annual Business Plan before submission to the sponsoring Department,s Finance Ministers and the North/South Ministerial Council and oversees their implementation;
· is responsible to the NSMC through the respective sponsoring Departments for the achievement of the Ulster-Scots Agency’s targets; the effective and correct discharge of its statutory functions and the proper management and bringing to account of its finances;
· endeavours to ensure that adequate resources are made available to fulfill the Body’s duties and responsibilities.
