Review of Financial Assistance Scheme for Music...

26 October 2010

Review of grant programmes currently operated under Ulster-Scots Agency's Financial Assistance Scheme - closing date extended.

In early October, the Ulster-Scots Agency commenced a process to review grant programmes currently operated under its Financial Assistance Scheme. The Agency would now like to announce that the closing date for receipt of completed questionnaires has been extended to Tuesday 14th December, 2010 (formerly 31st October 2010).

The aim is to refine processes to reduce the complexity of the current system and to improve transparency in decision making while minimising the administrative burden on organisations in receipt of grant. Affordability and value for money are also important in the current climate of reductions in public sector funding.

The provision of Musical and Dance tuition in communities is the first element of the Financial Assistance Scheme to be reviewed.  The Agency recognises the contribution every organisation and its membership makes to facilitating groups and individuals wishing to participate in programmes aimed at improving the skill level of musicians and dancers in the Ulster-Scots tradition.

As part of this process we would welcome views from all organisations on the future delivery of this programme – a consultation paper with a response questionnaire can be downloaded as a Word document below. It is hoped the majority of groups will provide input into this consultation as the Agency seeks guidance from community in order to put in place a mechanism that is fit for purpose.

Completed questionnaires may be returned by post to The Ulster-Scots Agency, 68 – 72 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7BB or by attaching the completed questionnaire and emailing it to info@ulsterscotsagency.org.uk.  All returns will be treated with the strictest confidence.
