KEY OBJECTIVES

The Ulster-Scots Agency believes that the key objectives themes set out in its first Corporate Plan remain relevant to the attainment of its mission. They are therefore repeated in this Plan with some amendment.

The Ulster-Scots Agency has given financial support to a number of community initiatives that have had a significant impact in terms of building confidence and reducing tension.  The changes in places like Londonderry with the Maiden City Festival and Kilkeel with the Schomberg Pageant and the Mourne Ulster-Scots Festival spectacle have been quite dramatic. In addition, it is worth noting the contribution of the Altnaveigh Cultural Society in Newry in developing cross community and cross border co-operation. The Society receives financial support from the Ulster-Scots Agency.

The Ulster-Scots Agency believes that this programme will continue to contribute to community cohesion In assisting in the establishment of healthy vibrant communities the Ulster-Scots Agency recognises the essential nature of such capacity building.

The Agency as part of an ongoing process is currently considering how its services can be developed in the coming years. In a post “care and maintenance” situation the Agency intends to revisit the activities and associated budget shown in this Corporate Plan.
