Jim Lindsay was born and brought up in a troubled area of North Belfast but has lived for more than half his life in Sydney, Australia. His lifelong fascination has been, however, his ‘own’ people – the Scots-Irish in the United States. His songs represent little moments of epiphany – clearly caught vistas of landscape and figures showing a tough uncompromising but admirably reticent people.
Jim Lindsay hopes to show listeners through his work that the Scots-Irish just didn’t belong to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries but that these people and their culture are as alive and vibrant as ever they were.
His first collection of original songs on ‘Back to the Heartland’ was released two years ago and have been very popular at home, Ulster and across the world with the Scots-Irish have settled.
‘Back to the Heartland’ can be purchased via the internet at $15.95 from www.scotsmarket.com or by calling a toll free number 1-800-441-5481 or closer to home, from a visit to the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh.
