A Celebration of Ulster-Scots Culture & Heritage. 5th - 10th September 2016, Various Locations in Raphoe.

Monday 5th September

Highland Dance Workshop (7.30 – 8.30PM)

Cathedral Hall, Raphoe 

Have you ever wanted to dance the Highland Fling? Well now’s your chance!  This workshop is open to all ages and will be delivered by the Sollus School of Highland Dance.

Tuesday 6th September

Family History Workshop (2.00 – 3.00PM)

Ulster-Scots Agency Regional Office, William Street, Raphoe 

Local historian and geology expert Boyd Gray will deliver a workshop on the tools you need to find out your family history with special focus on the families of Raphoe and East Donegal.

Wednesday 7th September

World War I Exhibition (11.00am – 4.00PM & 6.00 – 10.00PM)

Cathedral Hall, Raphoe 

Great War exhibition containing many artefacts including many local items.

A talk will be delivered at 8.00PM on Donegal and the Great War

Thursday 8th September

A Wheen o Wurds o Ulster-Scots (2.00 – 3.00PM)

Ulster-Scots Agency Regional Office, William Street, Raphoe 

A workshop on the Ulster-Scots language delivered by BBC Kist O Words presenter, Anne Smyth.

Wae A Heart An A Half - Donegal answers the call (Doors open 7.45PM and Performance at 8.00PM)

Cathedral Hall, Raphoe 

A drama production performed by Class Act Drama looking at the impact of World War 1 on a group of young men from County Donegal.

Friday 9th September

A Celebration of Marching Bands (8.00PM)

Marquee in the Diamond, Raphoe

A concert celebrating the very best of our marching bands tradition including an accordion, flute and pipe band.

An Ulster-Scots Ceilidh Night (8.00PM)

Cathedral Hall, Raphoe 

A great night of music, dance and crack with the Alistair Scott Ceilidh Band with local callers Ken and Linda McLean.

Saturday 10th September

Ulster-Scots Heritage Day (12.00 noon – 5.00PM)

The Diamond Raphoe

A Celebration of Ulster-Scots Culture and Heritage.

Offering something for all ages, including:

·          Traditional Ulster-Scots Music in the Marquee with Risin’ Stour and the Alastair Scott Ceilidh Band

·          Bluegrass Music in the Marquee with The Down and Out Bluegrass Band

·          Arts and Craft Stalls

·          Highland and Scottish Country Dance Displays

·          Great War Living History Display

·          17th and 18th Century Living History Characters

·          Ulster-Scots Heritage Walking Tour

·          Falconry Display

·          Children's Archery

·          Marching Bands and Lambeg Drumming

Ulster-Scots Gospel Group The 11 47ers will be performing in the Cathedral during the afternoon and the Raphoe Heritage Centre located in the Volt House, The Diamond, Raphoe will also be open all afternoon.
