Atlanta ‘debut’ for ‘On Eagle’s Wing’

The new musical ‘On Eagle’s Wing’ is set for a transatlantic ‘debut’ in Atlanta Georgia this weekend.

Such has been the interest in America about this new musical from composer John Anderson that a special presentation has been arranged.

World renowned local singer Peter Corry will sing several songs from the two-hour spectacular, accompanied by piper Robert Watt, to leaders of Atlanta society and commerce.

John Anderson will also give the audience an exciting insight into the show ahead of a planned tour of America and Canada next spring.

The musical tells the tale of 18th century Ulster Presbyterian emigration to the New World of America through the narration from Peter Corry.

“What the audience will get in Atlanta will be a special insight into the musical, certainly not the full musical which will be premiered at the Odyssey, Belfast, this autumn,” explains John Anderson.

“The presentation has come about due mainly to the enthusiasm of a Scots-Irish man called Bernard Gilliland, who is based in Atlanta and invited us over to make the presentation.”

Ulster-Scots Agency Chairman, Lord Laird of Artigarvan, has championed the musical and he believes that it will greatly help explain the Ulster-Scots to the modern world while addressing the cultural needs of the Scots-Irish community in the USA today.

“We have found time and time again that the Scots-Irish in America are crying out to know more about their culture and I’m not surprised that the production has been asked for this presentation,” says Lord Laird.
