The Ulster-Scots movement is vibrant, wholeheartedly fulfilling a function that is vital to the development of a culture deeply engrained in the community psyche of the Northern part of this island.

As we approach the end of another year, we in the Ulster-Scots Agency, in common with many others, reflect on the events of the last 12 months. The past year, despite some difficulties, has seen further progress in the Ulster-Scots movement, says George Patton, Chief Executive.

An Ulster-Scots novel about 19th century life in Co Down is to be reprinted more than 100 years since it was last published.
Sons of the Sod, which was written in 1890 by author and journalist W.G. Lyttle, is a fictional yarn set in the village of Carrowdore.

Ulster-Scots poetry winner!

Gerald Kane, 11, from Bushmills Primary School, was one of two winners of the oral schools poetry competition organised as part of the 'Alphabet Angel' project in Bushmills.
 

Ulster-Scots group at Westminster

The inaugural meeting of the first all-party Ulster-Scots parliamentary group at Westminster will take place on January 16.
In attendance will be MPs Jeffrey Donaldson, Rev. Martin Smyth, Andrew MacKinlay and Sir Nicholas Winterton.
Ulster-Scots Agency's chief executive George Patton and deputy chief executive George Holmes have been invited.
