New extended edition of 'Ullans'

The new winter edition of 'Ullans', the journal from the Ulster-Scots Language Society has just been released.
The publication is bigger and better than before as it contains two editions for the price of one.
It features original prose and poetry from established writers such as James Fenton, Philip Robinson, Charlie Gillen, Charlie Reynolds and new Ulster-Scots writers William Davidson and John McGimpsey Johnston.
A fascinating introduction to the 160-page book are three letters written in the 'tongue' at the time and published in the Northern Constitution newspaper from 1907 to 1914.
These 'finds' were produced by Charlie Reynolds after much pain-staking research and give a real insight into the life and times of the rural people who wrote that as well as the language they used.
Interspersed with poetry are articles on language aspects from leading Ulster-Scots experts, such as Dr Michael Montgomery, Anne Smyth and Dr Crawford Gribben, from Trinity University, Dublin.
'Ullans' costs £5 to members and £8 to the general public and is available from the Ulster-Scots Language Society direct or from good bookshops.
