Strategic Theme 4 - Public Awareness and Understanding of Ulster-Scots lanugage and culture.

           

To develop the public’s understanding of the Ulster-Scots language and culture further. The Ulster-Scots Agency’s remit is underpinned by the need for the public to understand and appreciate the role of language and culture in society.

 

Activities

The Ulster-Scots Agency has been extremely successful to date and it is vital to sustain this work. Accordingly, the Ulster-Scots Agency will continue to stimulate and support Ulster-Scots events and will produce promotional material using the following media: -

 

·              Ulster-Scots Agency newsletter and contributions to local newspapers;

·              Interactive website;

·              Leaflets about Ulster-Scots matters;

·              Press releases and placed articles;

·              Radio and Television

·              A Conference for groups/stakeholders to promote the success of the Ulster-Scots Agency.

 

The Ulster-Scots Agency will promote the objectives of the Ulster-Scots movement with elected representatives and community leaders.

 

Resources

It is anticipated that some £628,000 will be allocated from the projected budget over the plan period for marketing and promotion representing the publication and distribution of 10 editions of the Ulster Scot each year, the production and distribution of information leaflets the organisation of conferences, seminars and showcase events and the engagement of Public Relations consultants.

Performance Indicators

The performance of the public understanding objective will be evaluated by a public survey of opinions.
