Poetry
Ulster-Scots has a great literary tradition particulary with the 'Weaver Poets'. However, today's Ulster-Scots are continuing with the tradition by writing contemporary poetry, mainly about rural life and times which are sadly now gone.
For these people, it is natural for them to write as they normally speak amongst family and friends and they are in no doubt about the authenticity of their language.
We carry a selection of poems and prose, many of which were originally first published in the Ulster-Scots Language Society's 'Ullans' magazine or in the Crack column of the Ulster News Letter which has been running for over two years; both publications have promoted the Ulster-Scots language and to which the Ulster-Scots Agency is indebted to.
