Primary school children are being asked to express themselves in their 'ain tongue' in a new language competition from the Ulster-Scots Language Society.
The competition will be promoted in more than 500 schools in counties Antrim and Down, together with some schools in other counties which have indicated an interest in linguistic diversity.
The theme 'Whilin' Oors Awa' has been chosen for the competition sponsored by the Ulster-Scots Agency. The competition invites children to take part in a range of educational expression based around the theme of sport and leisure activities through poetry, song, illustration, story, drama or audio-visual material
There will be two competitions running, one for P4 - P7 class entries and one for best individual use of Ulster-Scots.
The competition will take place during the summer term, with a final closing date Wednesday June 21, addressed to the Ulster-Scots Language Society's development officer.
