Ulster-Scots course for North Down

An eight-week Ulster-Scots language, literature and culture course will be held in the Ulster-Scots heartland of Carrowdore, Co. Down.
Starting on Monday March 15, from 7-9pm, the course will be tutored by one of the leading language experts, author and former Ulster-Scots Agency Board member, Dr Philip Robinson.
The course is part of the current programme from  North Down and Ards Institute and takes place at Ballyboley Centre, Carrrowdore.
"It will be 'an apen dorr an hairstome walcome tae aa' says Dr Robinson.  "I'll be expecting a mix of people from local native speakers to those who are very interested, but have little knowledge of the language and literature.
"It will be as interactive and informative as possible,  beginning with an exploration of the history and culture of the Ulster-Scots as expressed in their language and literature.  It will then develop individual language and literacy skills in the context of a foundation course."
The course is priced at £35 for the eight weeks, £20 concession price and further information can be obtained from the Ballyboley Centre at 028 91-86 1735 or by calling at the centre at 2, Manse Road, Carrowdore.
