Dunloy Accordion Band to take part in Lord Mayors Show London procession
The Lord Mayors Show London celebrates an 800 year London tradition in grand, historic style. This year the event will take place on Saturday 10th November and will be broadcast live on BBC1.
In 2005 Dunloy Accordion Band were invited to take part in the Lord Mayors Show in London, the band were so well received that the pagaent master extended an open invitation for the band to take part whenever it wished. The Dunloy Accordion Band is one of only a few bands from Northern Ireland to have taken part in this show, and the only accordion band to have done so. The parade takes place in the City of London with an estimated 500,000 spectators and millions that watch the live broadcast on BBC1.
Dunloy Accordion Band will put on parade a band of appoximately 40 players. Many more will travel with the band to experience this event , which is the biggest non rehearsed parade in the world. As the band marches past the Mansion House where the Lord Mayor will take the salute they have chosen to play the march 'Aces High'. This march was written by Ron Goodwin especially for the film 'Battle of Britain'. During the rest of the parade the band will play many well known marches and tunes.
